SENIOR CONSULTANT

Construction Analyst

Point is currently hiring for Senior Consultants to assist with a variety of construction projects throughout the United States and overseas (travel may be required). Our office headquarters is located in Asheville, NC with satellite offices in Galveston, TX and Santa Rosa Beach, FL. We allow full remote positions if the applicant has proven experience in Construction Claims Consulting but prefer candidates who are located in NC, SC, TN, VA, or GA.

General Responsibilities

  • Analyze damages related to delays, disruptions, acceleration, and defects

  • Prepare detailed financial reports, expert witness reports, and trial exhibits

  • Review construction contracts, change orders, and job cost reports to verify accuracy

  • Analyze, investigate, and quantify financial damages, fraud, and disputes

  • Other (depending on qualifications)

    • Travel to project and client meetings

    • Create new business opportunities

    • Lead expert analyses and provide expert testimony

Requirements

  • Prior Experience

    • 10+ years focusing on financial analysis of companies, forensic accounting, and quantifying damages

    • At least 5 of the 10 years of experience in quantifying varying types of financial damages to construction projects and contracting companies

  • Other Minimum Requirements

    • Team-focused person who thrives on accountability and tight deadlines

    • Expert-level Microsoft Excel. Excel experience must include use of advanced functions such as lookups, index, match, countifs, etc., along with the use of Pivot tables and charts

    • Expert-level summary of complex financial data into simple tables and charts

    • Excellent communicator who can discuss complex financial models and simplify key points to varying levels of clients and audiences

    • Demonstrated knowledge of construction project controls, cost reporting, and accounting

    • Proficiency in financial data analysis, knowledge of construction contracts, and GAAP

    • Possess strong writing and communication skills, attention to detail and exceptional analytic abilities

  • Education and Professional Background

    • CPA Certification is required – no exceptions

    • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in accounting, finance; other degrees in engineering, construction, or business-related field are helpful

    • Industry certifications or licensure is highly desired
